is the issue really as simple as life and death?
. . .

These days it seems so hard to have a clear opinion about abortion!

On the one hand, you hear all around you talk about the "right to choose" with slogans like "my body, my choice" and "pro-woman, pro-choice." Then you ask yourself, "How can any fair person be against women's rights?"

On the other hand, you sometimes hear people talking about a different right: the right to life.

Wait a second. Right to life? Whose life? I thought the issue was all about choice!

Ok, now you step back. There are two concepts at war here: the right to life, the right to choose. Both leave a question to be asked, so let's get them straight.

First question: what's the life involved here? The simple answer: the life of an unborn baby. Some call it a "fetus." Some call it a "blob of tissue." Science tells us it's a living, breathing human life -- like yours, just less developed.

Our second question: what's the "choice" we're dealing with? It's a choice between whether or not to kill this unborn baby.

Whoa! Harsh language. Slow down! Not quite ready to hear that.

Ok, well think about it. It's just simple logic. It all depends on one question: is the "fetus" really a human being?
